Wearing these robes not only changes the appearance of the heroes, but also their special abilities: with the Goron costume you can swim through lava, with the Kokiri robe you can improve your arrows, and with the hearty dress you can strengthen your heart drops. With the rewards for passing adventures, players can tailor over 30 fashionable robes. In this way, they can solve tricky puzzles, catapult players to higher levels, or gain a size advantage. Furthermore, players can form a totem out of two or three links by having the links climb on each other's shoulders. Since all three heroes are connected to the same heart bar, it's important to support each other and communicate with comrades via the icons on the touchscreen to request help, give them tips or just cheer them on. Players can also venture into levels on their own by hiring statue-like companions called Doppelgangers to join their trio.
In downloadable play, three friends can play together with just one copy of the title and even transfer some of their achievements to their own game. You can team up with two other heroes online or via local play. You can travel to eight different areas of rag-tag land, from icy caves to red-hot volcanoes, and explore over 30 levels packed with puzzles, traps and baddies.
